Snowblower Help with 3pt Snowblower

   / Help with 3pt Snowblower #21
How many blades on the 2nd stage fan? I had a blower with only 3 blades & wouldn't blow worth a **** at 540 RPM. My Kubota B7100 has 3 PTO speeds & when I stepped up to 780 RPM ( or whatever it is) it would blow snow into the next county. Big difference. The buddy I bought my Kubota from bought a 20hp Kioti & kept his old blower (same as mine). His tractor has only a 540 RPM PTO & is really dissappointed with his blower performance now.

There are 4 blades on the impeller. Turns real well now that my issue has been fixed (minimal clearance at the bottom too). There is only one shear pin for the auger, and it that is gone it won't turn, so I'm not sure what you are getting at there. I run it at 540 (or a little more, just beyond the orange zone on my tach)....like I said, not a lot of variables here!!!! I even sprayed the chute down with Pam, didn't do much, but made me feel like I was helping...hopefully more snow is the ticket.

Same here and have done this for the last 3-4 years with my MT180D but run it a tad slower than WOT with no ill effects.
3 blade is definite poor design but I think impeller gap is the bigger culprit.

I guess 3 blades are less demanding HP wise like smaller diameter blower drum thereby allowing the manufacturer to claim a wider range of applications with smaller inventory.
Cost of building 4 blade vs 3 blade is actually minimal, diameter of blades would add cost however.

Sorry I was so long getting back to you guys. Thanks for the help. Those of you saying the pto shaft was too long are the winners! Bent the frame where the gearbox is mounted, shimmed up rear bolts with a washer, and good to go.

I didn't double check pto length when I brought her home. Lesson learned. Thanks again to all.

Toby

How did you fix it, pictures would be nice please
