Kubota L3240HST
I'm looking to purchase a good box blade for my L3240 with R4 tires Ballasted.
I've been looking at the Everything attachments lines and for used heavier blades as well.
All the advice I have gotten is to buy the heaviest blade possible.
I've found this one and the owner doesn't know what kind it is but said it weighed ~900 pounds and was very HD.
Can anyone identify this box and let me know what kind and if my tractor would be a good match.
Also what would be a fair price for this blade.

Thanks,

That thing looks to be made well ! It has manual scarfiers and a hindge back plate. How wide is it ? 900 lbs of just BB I think might be to much for your tractor, however weight could be wrong as stated by current owner.
Don't know brand but judgeing by looks of vintage, design and color. It could be a Gannon,Landpride,Gearmore, or a Digmore made years ago in California I believe. If priced rite I would jump all over that whether I needed it or not but thats just me.

I'd want it wide enough to cover your rear wheel tracks, so 6' minimum?
Looks plenty tough - hope it works out for you.

Pretty much what Bullbreaker said, your manual should have the recommended weight for a bb on your tractor and I believe it will be under 900, but as mentioned who knows for sure what it weighs. I use a little heavier by about 200 pounds box scraper than recommended on our L5740 and it works well for us, we just use it a little less aggressively than on the M8540.

Different opinions on widths, I like one that at least covers the tracks; wish I could help with price, but I honestly don't know.

The blade is 6'.
What would be a fair price for something like this?
Can seem to find a recommend weight for my tractor, only a lift capacity for the 3 pt.

How does this relate to the size(weight) box blade?
3-Point Hitch:
Rear Type: I
Rear lift (at ends): 3,750 lbs [1701 kg]
Rear lift (at 24"/610mm): 2,650 lbs [1202 kg]

I think it will work fine for you with loaded tires.

If the blades are good and the scarifier mechanism works, I'd say $500 would be okay. $400-$450 would be better.

Yeah agree $400/$450 would be better. I'd tell -em I was going to have to sand blast it and re-paint it and offer $300 and see/hear their reaction and hope they don't read or go on TBN. Show -em cash and pretend like your walking away, even worked for me when I asked my wife too marry me.

I use a 1000lbs 84 " HD blade on my TLB 110, with unloaded tires. The tractor can get dragged down if the box gets full and I am cutting deep. I would not change my setup I like the weight for the grading, I just control the amount I am taking off when grading. I would buy the blade if it is wider than your tractor and the price is good for you.

Not sure what or why everyone thinks that this BB should go for so cheap. That is an easy $2000 implement if bought new. What I see is that it only needs to be cleaned up and painted. $50 in paint and a days labor at most. Sandblast if you want, so another $50 in sand. To me, anything under $800 would be a steal. But that may just be me, I never expect to get a killer deal on anything. ;)

Just look at the price of an equivalent new blade. If it is all there and solid why would it be worth less ? Only worn cutting edges maybe and paint which like brian said is not much. You are lucky to find one. I've been looking for a good used one locally for a while and they seem to be rare around here,

That blade looks very much like an older version of my Woods/Gill box blade. Mine is an SR65 (65"W) & I use it on an L3400. Actually my favorite implement, so it is on there most of the time.

It's also pretty easy to flip the scarifiers once you know the drill. Woods used to have the manual online, don't see it now but I think I have one downloaded.

Solid implement.

Agrew with tdvt, looks like a woods/gill... guessing an sr20 if it is 72". Spec sheet on the sr20 is 975lbs. New a bit over $2,500. Brian is right... anything below $800-1,000 is a really good deal if everything is in good shape and functional. I just ordered a used SR20 from Ken Sweet that he had listed around $1,300... should be here next week. I have an SR20 owner's manual .pdf... pm me your email if you want a copy. Posting a pic below, alongside your pic for comparison.

What is the asking price?

From that you can use all the estimates here to try to figure an offer that won't be so low as to be insulting, though if it was me, I'd make a very low ball offer and be ready to (pretend to) walk away, and also plead ignorance if he seems insulted by your offer.

My previous tractor was a grand L3240 with loaded R4 tires. I had (still have) a Cammond box blade. I bent the blade with my little tractor but when I bought my blade, I didn't realize I was getting the 'economy' model. It was just so pretty and orange, I just had to have it. If I remember correctly, my blade is just over 600 lbs. I have ALWAYS wanted it heavier. You tractor will have NO PROBLEM lifting the blade and yes, it will stop the tractor if you load it up. Just don't load it up. Learn to work the blade and weight will help you at times. 6 Foot will cover your tracks.
My 2 cents...

PS You will be surprised just how much your tractor will pull

I agree you cant buy a used entry level box blade for $500.

I contentedly pull a 60", 630 pound 'Bush Hog' Rollover Box Blade through Florida sandy-loam, behind my B3300SU. (33-hp/1,800 lbs./industrial tires) So the 900 pounds BB you are considering is in scale to your heavier tractor.

I rarely put down the rippers; weight accomplishes the work using the scrape blade alone most of the time.

Be a little cautious when pushing dirt in reverse. It is possible to deform lift arms and check chains operating in reverse, as three point hitch is engineered primarily to PULL not PUSH.

First picture below is my ROBB pushing loose dirt/ashes in reverse at our community burn pile. Note: Kubota check chains replaced by pin-adjustable, heavy, telescoping stabilizers from Stabilworks for reinforcement to three point hitch components.

I use an 84" HD box scraper and as stated when loaded it will stop my JD4510 in it's tracks. But, once you learn to control the feed rate into the box by adjusting the cutting angle and elevation you will not have a problem. This takes some seat time but that's what it's all about.

huh, $500 was my top end for entry level box blade (60") and i could buy them all day long. I shopped around till i found a $200 one. works fine, works great with another 200lbs of RRail welded to it. at that weight i can still bring my small class II to a halt fairly quickly in hard dry IL ground.

for the HD blade shown... id like to get it for $500 (under that unreasonabl expectation) LIkely offered for $1200-1500 in my neck of the woods. Wouldn't spend more than $1000 if it was in good condition, would try to get it for $800.

At $800 id feel i got a good deal and the seller didnt get ripped off. @ 1000, Id think the seller would be pleased and the buyer shouldnt feel like they overpaid.
