I removed the shaft but I can not figure out how to get the fan off. Any suggestions?

That would be nice but my fan bolts are inward against the transmission.

If I am remembering correctly, the one I did had a bolt either through a notch on the transmission input shaft or a bolt tightening the collar to the shaft and it was not easy to get to with the floor pan off. Looks like you took the CV joint apart and the rest of it needs to come off.

Your right David there is a bolt holding it on. The cooling fins are in the way to remove it from the bottom. I have to take the floor pan off to access the bolt from the top.

swatter, You're right. You gotta access the bolt from the top of the transmission housing. I'm fixin'ta hafta do the same thing. A reliable tractor mechanic I've met has, so far, steered me correctly on everything I've asked him about my BX2230. He said that you HAD to take the floor pan off of BX series tractors to replace that fan.

BTW, what part of Alabama are you from? I grew up around Ford City, east of Muscle Shoals (still have a farm there), later moved to Sheffield and went to Sheffield High School and then Auburn. Lived for 17 years in Madison County and Decatur (working for gov't contractor mostly for NASA and Army Missile Command) before moving back to the Shoals. Moved up here to northeast MO in '02 with my job, but can't wait to get back to 'Bama. Retiring in Nov. 2017, and then back to Sweet Home Alabama!

I live in Cullman, just south of Huntsville and north of Birmingham.

Now I am trying to figure out how to disassemble the hight adjustment knob and 3 point speed control knob.

Both of them pull straight off, in line with the shaft, but it's a very tight fit. You may have to put a couple of long screwdriver blades, or channel lock handles behind the knobs, one on either side of the shaft, grip them with both hands, one one either side of the knob, and pull really hard to get 'em off. Or you could rig up something to pry on the back of the knobs. But be careful to not bend the shafts, or break the knobs. But, if you do break them, they're cheap to replace.

A little heat from a heat gun will help in removing the knobs, just be careful not to melt them or damage the paint.
