Steve, thanks for the input. I had already looked at your thread and knew I didn't have to take the darn thing apart to make my mods. What a relief. :D I have some 4x4 here and might see what I can up with between those and the angle brackets. It wouldn't be so bad, but 99% of the time I trying to do this stuff alone and outside on gravel. Things tend to take longer that way.

I may have figured out a way to fix the PTO shaft problem as well. It is shipped with a chain that keeps the two halves together and makes it easier to carry. I think I'll get another chain just long enough so they wont come apart but I can pull the shaft out to the max. I dont think it will hurt anything with it flopping around there while the PTO runs.

I understand that the PTO shaft needs at least 6 inches overlap to work properly. The cover is held in place by the little chain.
