Help with loss of power in my Dump Truck

Did he say this did or did not have points? If it has Electronic ignition, then never mind, but if it has points, sounds like they closed up on him.

Eddie-You have received a lot of good ideas.
I would:
1-make sure fuel filter at fuel pump can is not full of crud.
2-take air cleaner lid off, start engine, and make sure carb is not flooding and dumping fuel.
3-when running, pinch off vaccum hoses (one at a time) and see if it runs better.
4-take dist cap off, twist rotor and dist shaft back and forth-sometimes roll pin on dist drive gear breaks and lets engine get out of time but will still barely run.

Did you ever resolve this issue or is it still ongoing?

I haven't touched it since it last died on me. There is no cataletic converter, but I did check the tail pipe to see if it was full of dirt from backing up and dumping the dirt. Nothing, it's totally clean.

I'm gonna take out the fuel filters and try that first and see what happens.

But right now I'm doing projects around the house when it's muddy out, and when it's dry, I'm digging with the dozer.

When I'm done with the dam and digging up the dirt, I'll need the dump truck real bad to haul off the dirt, but right now it's just an eye sore sitting there tormenting me. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
