Hello,

I am having an issue with my AGCO snowblower model SB550A. I am continually breaking shear pins and it appears that the auger is rubbing against the bottom of the snowblower shell which has created some pretty big divots in the metal.

It seems like the auger needs to come up but do not know how to do it or if it is possible.

If any one has any suggestions on how to fix this problem it will be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a bearing is wore out, where you have the slope in the shaft.

Using a large bar try prying on the auger to see if it has movement in the bearings.
If not, then the blower cutting edge may be bent up.
Watch the auger center shaft as it turns to see if the auger itself is bent. Try and ignore the flighting (the part that moves the snow to the center) as you do this.
If you find the cutting edge bent, then a sledge hammer may solve the rubbing.
If it is the auger that is bent then you may need help from a machinist depending upon your skill and tools.
