This tiller was dropped off today when I was gone. I can't figure out how to hook it up. There was a driveline sitting on top of the unit and another on the unit. I picked it up with the I-match, no problem, to get it in the light. Now I can't figure out how to get the drivelines together. They seem to be much longer than what's allowed. I know it can't be true, so what's the secret?

Slide the smaller one into the larger one. You may have to unhook the tiller to give you more room. After you have them together, put the tiller back on and slide the shaft onto the pto.

Okay, thanks, I just needed a little hint. I put the two shafts together first and the rest fell into place. I assume that chain on the shaft guard is to clip into the PTO shaft cover on the tractor.

I hook mine around the toplink, the point is to keep the protective outer sleeve on the shaft from spinning so as long as you clip it to something sturdy you should be OK.

Okay, now how do you keep the shaft on the PTO? It doesn't seem to go on very far and it wants to come off when lowering.

I just got the instruction book that they forgot to bring yesterday, but I've got to say that it doesn't even show all the chains that are everywhere.

Between uses I loop the PTO shaft chain through a hole by the tiller's toplink pin, this keeps the shaft at an upward angle and off the ground - makes keeping it clean a lot easier. The PTO shaft stays together and connected at the tiller, I only disconnect at the tractor.

As a word of advice, don't forget to use the little stand to keep it upright, but also don't forget to put the stand up once you connect the tractor. Not that this is the voice of experience. :)

Your PTO shaft may still be to long! And if it is, raising the tiller all the way can SEVERLY DAMAGE your tractor and/or tiller!

The PTO will have a button on it to push, or a collar on it that you must pull back to slide the coupler on all the way and LOCK IT ON.

Please, pardon my being direct, but I do not want you to hurt yourself or your machine...
From the questions your asking it sounds like you need help. Please call the salesman at your dealer and tell him you don't know how to hook up or use your tiller and you need help.

Now it all makes less sense. What locks it onto the PTO shaft? The instructions say to engage the cardan shaft and check that it is perfectly locked on the tractor. The word "cardan" doesn't show up again anywhere in either the istruction book or parts catalog.

I just found something else under "assembly/spare parts" for installing the driveline on tiller. It says to pull the coupler back and slide the driveline on driveshaft until the coupler locks in place. I should hear a clicking sound when driveline is properly installed.

I guess I'll try it again. It seems to stop like it can't go any further, but I know it has to go on more. Does it need a beating? If so, I can't figure out what to beat on because everything is covered with plastic.

Hold the presses! Thanks Kennyd, I finally found the button you were talking about. It would have been nice if the instructions had mentioned something along those lines, or at least had a picture (I like pictures better than words anyway). Now I'll try to till something.
