Ditto, exactly what Bob said. MF is a big player.. right up there with blue, orange and green...

At least for myself.. when i mention 'big 3'.. I mean mf as well..

So why isn't it the Big 4? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Wouldn't that create a whole new conference?

What would we call them?

I wanted to ask that question but felt like I was too much of a newby to do so.

I think it's just a terminology issue... the name of the 'big 3' is so established.. even though it houses more than 3 brands... kind of like a general reference to '1st market share' brands.

Kind of like calling a printer plug a centronics plug... etc..

Silly point here, but it is very likely that M-F is not the #4 brand in terms of sales. I think there must be some connection to real farmers and AG machinery as Massy is a bigger player in AG products but a smaller player in the hobby market? Just my $0.02 but I'm thinking that the big 3 may refer to 2 different things. In the AG community is it possible that it relates to JD, CNH and M-F? While in the CUT community it relates to JD, CNH and Kubota? Just more questions than answers!!!

I wasn't specifically think in the terms of market shar.. and wasn't implying MF as a #4 runner.. just #4 in a group of "'most common"

I don't mess with the big 'ag' machines enough to know where MF or KUB play at. I know I see more 'big' MF than big "KUB' around here.. but then.. that could be simple demographics for my area..

Just don't have enough info to quote market position.. or share / distribution on a large scale.

I know locally.. that among the farmers.. the smaller the farm... the more 'economy' units will be seen.. MF making a good show there in terms of $perHP... Course.. the older tractors make a huge showing as well. On the flip side.. you see a horse farm.. and it has green tractors only... You see an even distribution of blue and orange ( and not many others ) in the landscape contractor/fence installer/small contractor.. This directly relates to the pricing of the local dealers... MF is the lowest.. blue next.. then orange.. with green being the highest.. , again.. in my city.. etc.

I am very happy with my B3030 and the ATI Grapple adaptor and Woods toothbar that I had added to the bucket makes clearing brush quick, fun and easy. I had high expectations for this setup, and it has exceeded them.

For blackberries/honeysuckle/saplings/vines type brush...

1. open grapple.
2. drop the bucket low, with the teeth angled slightly down and just touching dirt
3. drive into the brush
4. close the grapple, lift and curl the bucket
5. back out and take to your brush pile (or wherever)

That's somewhat over-simplified, but you get the general idea.
