Help with power beyond and log splitter

KennyD--are you sure that it doesn't flow out of A?? At my dealer I saw a 3520 set-up with the BH on and the "hose" was not connected to anything. Dealer said that you needed to connect the hose (B) to get the BH off and on and use connection C to operate. Looked at JD Parts and it seems to confirm my suspicipion as well. A seems to be the "main" supply.

I stand corrected, I jumped the gun on this one... The main supply line is "A", with "B" going to the 3PH, and "C" going directly to the tank, bypassing the 3PH.
So "A" should go the the "IN" of the LS valve, then the "OUT" of the LS valve goes to the hose "B".
Also remember to match the hose and QD size to what you have on the machine now, this hose has the hydraulic flow of the whole machine going through it, you do not want to restrict it.

Long time back i was given a huge splitter with a 4" piston desighned to mount on a 60hp Massey. I swapped the 4" for a 21/2" from Princess Auto and leave the whole unit chained to the woodshed(upright). I made sure I got long enough hoses so I only have to get "close" to hook it up to A&B. (Actually I have a couple of 5" extension hoses with QDs on each end) The 21/2" is way faster than the leaky 4" and still has ample power at 1500rpm

Interesting... I've got an A and a B port on my PB circuit. I was wondering how that C port worked.

Great place to always learn somethin' new!

I picked a big honkin' 3pt log splitter a couple years back and have never used it, either. Probably a 3" ram with a 24" stroke at least.

Thought about sellin' it but have no idea what one is worth.

Thanks for the guidance, got it hooked up and running today. Works great, now We went through almost 5 cords this winter, now its time to stock up for next year. I just need to keep those boys working on the woodpile and keep their fingers away from the nasty bits of the splitter! I really like this set up since I can lower the 3ph to roll big logs on that are too heavy to lift.

funny you should ask......I got about 45 minutes of free splitting out of them due to the novelty of the new toy. After that they started asking for cash...I siad no, they left to play lacrosse. I suspect I'll be negotiating labor rates soon...
