Tractor
DK40SEH
I have been looking at tractors for a while now. We have decided to get into the 40 horse range for the bigger chassis compared to the mahindra 2615 we have been using. The mahindra is a great machine - just looking for something bigger. I really enjoyed the kubota 4901/4800 - just too much for us. The mahindra looks great also - though the price point on the DK40SE HST is likely better, and the machine feels excellent.

There are a couple offers going on - cash back or free loader (KIOTI Cash Back | Kioti Tractors)

Any ideas on what I should be paying on a new hydrostatic unit with a loader?

thanks!

I paid 25k for my 45hst with loaded tires and 3rd function with remotes on the front for the grapple last year. From what I hear finding a DK is tough (been replaced by the NX) somyou need to move faster than slower.

Thanks for the info. Was that price with the grapple?

I still see the DK listed on their web site, what is with that?

I have two quotes on new that seem reasonable. Expecting a phone call back on a used unit later today.

after implements (grapple, forks, brush hog) the used is $4000 cheaper than new. Not sure which way to go!

Is there a warranty on the used tractor? What kind of shape is it in (used hard or hardly at all)? Has it received all scheduled services and are there records of this?

How close is your dealer? The used tractor probably has any initial bugs worked out. A new unit may require a few trips/visits to/from the dealer to resolve minor warranty issues. People that buy their tractor from a distant or out-of-state dealer to save a little money seem to have many problems (see landedakioti posts). Don't buy anything used without inspecting/operating it. Especially with Kioti, dealer access and working relationships are critical; you won't get much support from Kioti US. If you know what implements/attachments you need, a package deal will usually save you some cash if you negotiate.

Unlike cars. a tractor's "build year" is not very important. The same basic design may be made for many years with minor design changes at any time throughout production. The initial sale date is when the warranty starts. A brand new model may have bugs that don't get found for a while and local parts stock may be low or non-existent. A discontinued model should not be a problem as long as enough have been sold to justify good parts availability. Also unlike cars, you may see really old tractors rusting in some field but not at a junk yard or crusher. Tractors tend to be owned, sold, inherited, etc. until they are no longer useful or can't be fixed. So popular tractors (like Ford 8N) tend to be supported for a LONG time.

What did you mean with :

Thanks!

What I meant: Kioti only sells parts through dealers but you can get parts and manuals by from distant dealers by mail order. If you have a problem Kioti US will refer you to your dealer for advice and repair. Many owners reported only frustration trying to get assistance or technical advice directly from Kioti US. There are cases where Kioti US paid for repairs (or at least parts costs) when competent dealers went to bat for the owner (and not when they didn't). Maybe nothing will ever go wrong with your machine; but if it does, a good relationship with a competent dealer can be worth peace of mind and more than a few dollars . I have no real data but I think Kioti tractors are probably as reliable as any brand but all brands produce a few machines that have problems.

Supplemental: I forgot to mention; you will likely be responsible (financially) for transporting the tractor to the dealer for maintenance. If that dealer is distant, this can become expensive and inconvenient.
