Hi. I have a JD model 4110 that I bought used a few years ago. I have always thought something wasn’t right with the underbelly lift attachment. When the 3 point lift is in the down position, the metal arms pretty much drag on the ground. When 3 point is up, they are up and out of the way. I think the underbelly parts are only used with my mid mount mower attachment. Please see pictures. is there something wrong with the way the metal arms are attached or should they be removed with the mower when I take that off or?
Thanks for any help you can provide. If you have pics of correct installation, that would be great.

I have an old JD4100. I just remove the mowing deck, not the arms. But I guess you could if you want to.

I have jd4100 with similar lift arms for the mower. When the deck is off (winter) I use a couple of turnbuckles to hold the lift arms up. I attach them to tractor frame and the part of the lift arms that rides on the 3pt lift arms. The 4100 actually is designed with the points to do this.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that I pin them up.

Appears they're installed correctly. Design is a compromise at best. However, they do come off pretty easily; total of four clevis pins and a pair of pivot pins attaching points. If you do remove I’d recommend leaving the front set of clevis pins C installed and duct tape the rod turn links (items J) in position. By doing this and not removing the clevis pins, you’ll maintain the decks established left to right level and won’t have to re adjust.

Should you remove them with the deck? Guess that depends on how the tractor is used. If you venture into rough terrain/wooded areas they can be readily damaged or bent. If the tractor stays on finished lawns/roads/pavement…… not so much.
