Help with PTO shaft removal

The 336 is not like that, he will have to remove the hydraulic lift assembly to get to it and maybe the left axle housing. I faxed instructions on how to remove it to Mark.

I got the instructions and will scan over it this evening. I was unsure without a careful look at them whether or not the pto assembly as a whole had to come out or whether the shaft that protrudes could come out in easier fashion Danny.

thats a drag, that involves a lot of extra wrenching.
I have never owned a 336 yet. but you are right about pulling the top & axle.

I see what you are saying. Yes, the top link was on and it was dusk so with the one side coming off, it is all I can imagine happened.

Danny, after careful study of those instructions last night, you are 100% correct it is not as easy as I had hoped, however, it seems to indicate that if I do not need to service the PTO Pinion, I can go an easier route and only remove the left axle housing. Does this sound right to you. After it goes thru how to remove the PTO pinion, it seems to make a statement that if it needs no service I can proceed to the left axle as an easier route to the PTO Shaft.

Well everybody, I finally got my lil ole' 336 back up and running. Thank you to everyone for your help in this and especially Danny! In the end, I had to remove the hydraulic lift assembly & left cover, as Danny & Ernie surmised, to access the front snap ring and washer holding the PTO in place. I am new to tractors and this forum really is a awesome help! Again, thanks to all.
