Checked the oiler today and it is working fine. Must have been that the chain was to tight??

Possibly. New chains get loose real fast however. When you said it was smoking, I thought you meant the exhaust.Tug on the chain when the saw is cold. You should meet with some resistance but the chain should come along. If the chain won't move, its too tight in my mind. I did know guys who adjusted new sawchain until the chain wouldn't move by hand. Their thought process was that the chain was going to get loose soon anyway so it was one less chain adjustment to make. (In my mind was a good way to hasten clutch burnout) They always poured bar oil all over their bars before starting however.

Hope the 372 works out well for you, but as others have mentioned - you'll probably buy it a baby brother before long LOL.

Got use the saw again and this time no smoking bar. The ony thing I can figure is that the chain was to tight. This saw is an animal, was cutting through oak like it was butter.

om21braz: it already has a little brother, a 240e, but i did have the 240e first so would that mean it is the 372's older but smaller brother?

Have you got that 372 broken in yet? It should really start to run good around ten tanks of fuel.

3rdgenorange -

I thought I would ask how your 372 is working for you? My older brother has the itch to buy a new saw for cutting wood. We are a Stihl family, but he is looking at other brands. I have an older MS 026 (now called MS 260) and a MS 310. My brother has a MS 310 also. We cut a lot of wood every year (20 - 30 cord) to heat 2 homes. The MS 310 is great for sawing up trees into the proper length and it works great for felling small to medium+ trees.

I hope you have enjoyed using the new saw.

I have the Stihl MS 361 witch has been replaced by the MS 362. that with a 20" bar will do about anything you want, and it will take up to a 25" bar.
Can't go wrong with a Stihl.

Or save yourself a bunch of money and get a CS600p off Ebay for just over $400, every bit as good as a Stihl 361 or 362. Steve

Still have not used it to much. Probably 4 tank fulls. Had most of the wood already cut. So far I really like the saw, little on the heavy side. Plenty of power and well balanced. Will hopefully get to use it more in a couple of months

Been using the saw more here lately. Recent storm brought down some trees. The more I use the saw the more I like it. It seems to be getting more power (must be breaking in). Overall no regrets on the purchase.
