help with selling small tractor

To me it's priced too low. I don't see the tractor prices drop like vehicles when they are near new. If it lists for 19k and you added 5k in attachments I'd be closer to 19k list and take the first 17k that came along. You can always lower the price in a few weeks if it doesn't sell.

I looked for a used machine for nearly a year before I purchased new. Nice used ones are like trying to find hen's teeth. They don't come up much.

I'd also list it on eBay. That has a huge audience as well.

Can anyone tell me what would be a fair price to ask for a Mahindra Max 24 HST? It has 43.7 hours on it and is in excellent shape. It has always been in a building protected from sun and whether.
I have over $5000 in it. I financed it at a little over $17,000.

My reading of the OP is that so far he's out $5K. He's NOT selling any attachments with it. And if you bothered to read his CL ad all he did was level some ground.

Mahindra MAX 24 HST with front loader only has 43.7 hours on it. I purchased it for one purpose and that was to level ground for an above ground pool. I also hauled some gravel from the front to the back of my house and did a little other yard work, but for the most part, it is new. It does not even have enough hours on it to require a tune up yet.
I am knocking $1700 off what I have it it for the 43.7 hours. I will not go any lower than that. I can always use it for yard work.
Other implements can be added, but front loader is all that is included.
You can email or text me at four seven nine, five zero two, five eight seven zero. If you call, please call in the afternoons.

When we sell off old equipment, we scour ads and find the average selling price, add or minus $$ depending on condition etc, then list it on craigslist. Sometimes stuff take a while to move. Had a guy drive like 6 hours to purchase a mini backhoe.

Thanks for the info. This definitely helps the OP sell his machine.

When I was shopping for used tractors, I checked Craigslist for all of California and Nevada. If it wasn't 20 years old and severely weathered, it was 90%+ of new. Why gamble on a tractor that has ANY use on it and little/no warranty to save 10%, when you can get brand new with full warranty, a lower interest rate, and a lower payment? It actually cost me less to buy new than used because I needed to finance it, and I know exactly how my tractor has been operated. I also get excellent service and support from my dealer.

Know your market. If there is new old stock available nearby, you have to beat that price enough to make the savings worth what you give up.

Sorry, had doc appt. today. Just getting back to reading messages. I will try that after my medication wears off a bit.
Thanks,

Go back into CL and edit the ad. Change the title to depict the make and model along with the word tractor such as "Mahindra Max 24 HST Tractor". Copy and past some of what I gathered below for you, make it easy for prospective buyers.... I like how you explained your use and that the machine was not abused or used hard, keep that.

Link to your current ad. I would spend 10 minutes and add a bunch of the information I give you below, and absolutely change that title so that the make and model are in it.
Small Tractor - farm & garden - by owner - sale

Oh, and make a new paragraph at the bottom and list every tractor brand you know, every model number that you feel is similar to your unit and maybe type out a bunch of implement brands and names such as Woods, Brush Hog, Rotary Mower, Flail Mower, MMM, Mid Mount Mower, Massey Ferguson, John Deere, Kubota.... just keep on typing! The more the better. That way folks searching similar equipment will find your add. Otherwise, your add does not get near the exposure that it otherwise could.

Mention the in service date for warranty and what warranty remains. This is a selling point.
Mention that it has 45 hours on the clock, but that the 50 hour service has been completed and that the next service interval is 300 hours (verify this with your manual).
List out the machine specs, save the prospective buyer from having to do the leg work to learn about what you are selling.

You done broke da code!
The OP price is simply way too high, when compared to buying new!

Be prepared for scammers offering to buy at full price if you will just and then something that does not make sense.

I purchased it in September 2017 if I recall correctly. I know the warranty just ended. I had a two year warranty but all that remains now is the PowerTrain warranty.
I may be high on my price expectations, but as I said in another post, or I think I did anyway, I would rather keep it. I plan on buying some land in the near future and I am sure it will come in handy then as well as it did when I purchased it for leveling the land for the pool.
Thank you for your advice.

What was the purchase date (warranty start date) and what was the warranty at the time you purchased?

You mention that it was $17,000 new (any taxes paid are not considered as part of the price) and your willing to go no lower than $15,500. So assuming that this is a year or less old, maybe you'll get a bite. But if it is a few years old, speaking for myself... I would go buy the new one on the lot for $17,000 with the Mahindra 7 year powertrain warranty rather than but a used one for $1,500 less that may have very little warranty left and low time on it.

Depending on the big picture, you may be high on your price expectations. Maybe not.

So when was the purchase date, what warranty remains?
