I'm back home and have parts in hand. Got :confused2:A BONUS:confused2: the top of the exhaust pipe was damaged in shipping does DISCOUNT mean anything! plus I told SWMBO about the discount but not the exact nature of the damage so the first thing (or two?) she sees will be "thats why I got it cheap" .
Red Goat I checked the head-to-nasty-exhaust distance and looks like it will be fine. Thanks! - the 870 has a smaller wheel base than the 4610.
As I feared there was no evidence of install instructions in the box but.. Hats off to Charlie who always handles my "I bought a part, now tell me how to put it in" questions. With some good detective work he brought forth instructions plus the elusive template. Took us like 15 minutes - thats why I love Deere! Did'nt buy the kit but got instructions, no questions asked about shipping damage discount, exacting-low-volume parts for a decent price.
Now the hard part - putting it in.
I'd start an install thread but there seems to be such little interest in converting the 4610 size wheel base tractors to verticle that unless some one would be interested.
I dont understand why some hot clim owners arent ... but have some theroys:
1. 4520 and 4720 owners where smart enough (from reading TBN?) to get the upgrade w/ tractor.
2. or are too manly to tell SWMBO that the tractor is a little hot to drive while mowing

The vertical exhaust is pretty manly so I don't know....
I'm sometimes annoyed about how the hot exhaust blows on the operator's feet on my 4200 but not enough to spend $100 on it. Now maybe if I matched it to some pipe at Advance Auto....

Spent about ten hours on my 870 since my last. Haven't even gotten a whiff of exhaust. Guess the wind was just blowing in exactly the right direction that first day. Good luck on your install. 7

Ar - thanks for taking the bait - I would of been dissapointed. But...
YOUR WRONG! Maybe where you live it is not worth a c-note but buddy where I'm at, AND if you put 300 hours/year on a 4610 its well worth the money (
I did drain my BEER budget for the month but... Even if I have to accept (steal) (beer only) from my "friends" until back in the black/drink water and maybe succumb to sweet tea with lots of ice its well worth it. I'm talking its COOLER shredding the plantation pines than sitting on the porch!! PLUS i've noticed if I'm out working people with tractor needs (and a funtional beer budget) stop by and ...
