Help with yellow diesel cans, please.

My search abilities are weak, I guess. A few weeks back, there was a discussion of diesel storage in yellow cans. It caught my attention. With the tractor on the way, I'm trying to get ready. Where can I purchase those cans?

Also, somewhere I saw a big funnel with a lip that prevented splashback when filling fuel. Anyone have a source for those very large funnels? Thought it might be a good idea not to splash fuel all over that expensive machine. Thanks for the help and sorry I couldn't locate that thread.

I found yellow containers & funnels at Car Quest Auto Parts Store. Imagine you would find them at Tractor Supply(TSC) PartsPlus, PepBoys,AutoZone,NAPA, maybe even Walmart,Kmart Etc.

When I first bought my tractor, I did the same thing. Searched high and low for a couple of months (no Wal-Mart around here) to no avail. Then one day I stopped in at the NAPA Auto Parts near my house to pick up some little doodad for my truck, and there they were.

I got my yellow diesel 'gas can' at Home Depot for about $0.90 a gallon.

I like that pour spout on the front can in the photo. Did that come with the can? It looks as if it might make a sharp bend into the filler neck and eliminate the need for the funnel.

I picked one up at Walmart also has a long flex nozzel on it works good

I forget where I bought mine. It has a spot the pulls out from inside, but it's not too flexable and won't stay bent. So you need someone to hold the spout while you pour.

Has anyone had any luck with the can with the built in pumps? I had one for gas a few (10) years back and it worked fine 'til it broke.

Yeah, Gary, the flex-straw type of spout that came with the can worked fine -- for about a year. Then the sharp little bends developed cracks and finally broke off altogether.

By now I'm sure you've seen <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.tractorbynet.com/forumfiles/47-128906-PouringDiesel.jpg>this pict</A> showing how I use a hose (vinyl tubing) to run straight into the tank. After the flex part of the spout broke off, I re-attached the hose clamp to fasten the tubing directly onto the remaining part of the spout and all is well once again.

Picked mine up last week at Lowe's. Paid $8.47 for it. I am still searching for a filtering funnel locally.
