Went back to court on November 17th. The neighbor lady's court appointed lawyer ask the judge for 6 more months to pay. He granted her request. So far I have received a total of $915.00! She still owes me $2291.66. I wonder if I'll live long enough to get all my money?

Man I wish I was licensed in your neck of the woods. I would take collecting from her almost pro bono just out of spite. I cannot stand neighbors that do not respect the property line.

Not that I am a loner, but if I invite you over that is a different thing....

Also the legal system needs a better way to deal with people with mental health problems.

No, not with that judge. They are just "waiting you out" there Shield. The wheels of justice sure move slowly don't they? If they move at all.

Every time we go to court it is a different judge.
Her lawyer told the judge, her clients only income is social security. I wonder if the court system bends over backwards for all the drug dealers too?

You should be getting interest on the money owed because she's clearly at fault.

Shield Arc, can we assume you didn't invite here over for Thanksgiving dinner?

At some point, and maybe you're already beyond it, the legal costs will exceed the award. Then you've gotta ask if it's really worth pursuing. If she's a nut job, and she shows every sign of it, a ruling in your favor won't change her behavior. And the legal system (notice I didn't say justice system) will continue to pander to her because of her cerebral disability. If you're like me you really, really hate being taken advantage of and want to get even, but the tools at your disposal to do so aren't working in your favor. Could it be time to just let go and move on, instead of stirring the upset every six months?

Not on your life!

It doesn't cost me anything. I just go to court to see what is going on. The prosecutor office will not keep us informed. The only other woman on earth who has cost me more than the neighbor lady, is my wife!

I got dragged into court a couple years back over a dispute with a neighbor. Had a guy in there who was caught with meth, heroin, pills and other crud while driving a semi. Judge issued court mandated counseling, guy lost cdl, and that was it. Quantities were enough for someone to get charged with dealing and put away for quite a long time.

Next gentleman up, was charged with DWI 20th offense after causing a pretty decent pile up, with no insurance. DLS 45th offense. Had to do 4 weekends in jail, but was issued a hardship liscense on the spot because he needed to keep his job.

If that were me doing that crap, they would have locked me up for 20 years at a minimum.
