It only goes out a "landline" Internet connection when you're in your house, it's a standard mobile phone and most of the time when you go outside it will transition to the nearest cell tower. A femtocell is just a baby cell tower you install in your living room that your standard Verizon or AT&T mobile phone can use if there isn't good wireless coverage in your area. For those of us in the telecommunications field it's pretty cool technology, but it can be a little tough to understand the nuances without a few years of training
