Helping my boy to ride a bike

I remember having a non banana seat bike when I was around 8 years old. I painted it black....most likely with a brush. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif I also took the fenders off, front and rear, and hid them in the bushes. That way my parents couldn't make me put them back on. All this in an attempt to look cool! It's funny how when you're a kid that big wet stripe you got up your back when it was wet out didn't bother you a bit.

Just thought of another. What about putting a playing card or two in your spokes holding them with a clothes pin to make that wonderful sound! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif G

Ah yes....the playing cards in the spokes.

I had a neighbor that had a toy that was the envy of every kid in my neighborhood. I only saw one.....it was a plastic realistic looking battery operated engine that you strapped in the frame of your bike. It had a wire that went up to a handgrip that when twisted would make a realistic motorcycle sound......WAY COOL!!!! to us at least. We paupers that lowered ourselves to using baseball cards could only dream. It does prove one thing......the killing of childrens use of their imagination started as far back as the late 60's and early 70's. I guess it was still okay to actually have to pedal the bike then. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I'll be 50 in September and I've got a 7 year old learning now.
the handle looks like a good idea. The old back just doesn't feel quite like it used to.
