Hi guys!
All is well, but for reasons beyond our control /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif the trip came to a sudden end in Idaho, and we had to return home. This was too bad as we were having a great time, enjoying the natural beauty that State and National Parks off, and all such things.
One thing I did come to realize since departing on the trip was how much time one can spend in the morning here at TBN! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Could not help but think back to John Miller III, when he transitioned from a regular here to whatever his status may be currently. Since arriving home I’ve made a conscious effort NOT to check in at TBN, so I can get more things done that I need to (read: get started earlier in the morning).
One of my planned projects that I need to get done is re-roofing the house. Arriving home sooner has let me get started sooner on that project. Unfortunately, this project involves more than just shingles and requires a remake of one wall, removal and resize/rebuild of 13 home-made windows, things like that. Very time consuming when you are working alone. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
One pleasant surprise of our abbreviated trip was how easy we could find wireless access points to connect to the Internet. Sometimes in hotel parking lots, occasionally at highway rest stops (free access, not referring to the paid access points) and more than a few times along the road in small towns, where someone had an open wireless access point that we could jump on and send/check email from. It was a rare day that we could not find Internet access, using the wireless network cards in our laptops. One night we stayed in a Wal-Mart parking lot when we did not find a state/national park (Found that option preferable to commercial campgrounds) and we had wireless access all night in our van, provided by a hotel next door, which was a couple hundred feet away.
Anyway, just wanted to say hello and let you know that we are home safely. I probably will not be checking in here too often between now and when the snow flies.
Now if I could only figure a way to get a tractor up on the roof to give me some help! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
