I didn't know you were allowed to ask about henro around here !

Like you I was concerned if he was OK but when I asked about him I was rewarded with all kinds of personal attacks because of my caring for another person and the thread was deleted.

Seems it don't pay to love your neighbor at TBN

You asked the question....... I answered the question.... others added to that answer.... someone hit the notify moderator button..... the moderator didn't like what he saw and deleted the post. Henro is alive and well and you know the reason that he left, so there is no need to go into that a second time. Those that don't know the reason, don't ask me, I won't tell. However someone else might go into the details. Don't know if it will be any better than the last time though....

With all due respect, please go back and re-read the kind of responses you make to people's posts. They come across very negatively and in a bitter, critical manner. If you would give some thought to the way in which you come across, perhaps people would respond in a better manner.

TomH,

A nice reminder to all of us that email and forums are a lot different than face-toface communication. The person we are addressing cannot see our grin (or our scowl) when we say something, nor can they hear the tone of our voice, so it is sometimes hard to tell whether someone is being funny, or mean, or sarcastic.

I learned some hard lessons about that years ago when I tried to write like I often speak and it did not come across as funny to some folks, in fact, I unintentionally offended a few people. I had to learn to tone my message down and read what I have written before hitting the "Send" button. I try to think how it might be perceived by the receiver(s). If in doubt, don't send it or at least tone it down a lot.

Unfortunately, attempting to be funny is one of the easiest ways to offend someone. It just doesn't come across the way we intended.

I believe that some folks who come across as being less than friendly and tactful really are nice folks, they just don't see how they have offended others by their remarks.

I think that may be what happened to several people on this forum is they were offended by others remarks and left. And the "offenders" probably did not mean to offend, they were just a little lax in their choice of words.

Please folks, let us all try to play nice.

I am not a Rotarian but I really like their "Four Way Test":

"Of the things we think, say or do:
1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?"

Bill....... I am a Rotarian (retired/Sr Inactive/past President) and you are correct about the 4 way test. Unfortunately, some people don't learn even when they are given specific examples and are specifically instructed as to where they went wrong. I don't want to dwell on the subject and I don't want the thread to close or disappear, however, the old expression........ "a word to the wise should be enough" comes into play. As I so often would say in business...... I deal with reasonable people reasonably, and unreasonable people not at all. Some people can not be reasoned with.
