you can get a ac dc unit called Eastwood carried by the company jets for thin Alum only for around 900$

Everlast also has a unit in that price range but gas and supplies will cost extra. Hard to start tig welding of aluminum for less than $1500 initial outlay.

Having said this I can't believe the cost of Gas Cylinders over here..... As far as I know I can only rent the cylinders. And even the smallest ones cost $600 in the first year then $300 each year after.... +$12 a refill..... Can anyone tell me a cheaper way to do this?

That's a complete ripoff.

Since you are doing art, consider brazing using propane and a used medical oxygen concentrator. You can also use the torch to heat and bend. IF you get a concentrator which FILLS medical cylinders, you can do some cutting with them.

For steel art, buy a MIG.

If you make enough money or have it handy already, pay the nice man and get a TIG or a MIG suitable for aluminum. The custom Down Under (from what I've read in various forums) is to use short MIG guns with teflon liners instead of spool guns for aluminum MIG, so no reason that shouldn't work for you.

Not sure if it was said clearly or not but Mig on thin aluminum is difficult at best. Before you set up to do that, make sure you have tried it on the material you will be working on.

I went and looked at mine, it is a Henrob box and the torch itself said Dillon. I did notice a cd in there so maybe that demo video is there, I will check.
