I think that is so cool.
My wife will hunt with me but won't shoot anything. My daughters on the other hand hunt hard. I even take my three year old in the blind with me at least once a year. She hunts.. I don't. LOL Last year we sat in the blind while she was on the ready with her camo Bass Pro pop gun:D I'm waiting for the day she gets her first deer.

Good job Eddie. You have introduced someone to shooting and hunting. You may even have a new hunting partner. It doesn't get much better than that!

Howdy,

1st time posting here and looong time lurker. Appreciate all the stories and passing back & forth of knowledge.

Well, decided to give comment on this one, and hopefully taken without getting anyones gander up? For I feel that the hunt was purdy lucky in how it went down without a hitch, plain and simple.

Being a former firearm instructor and hunter, can say the prep for this gal being only verbal, & never shooting/sighting in, (everyone's sight picture is different), this particular rifle, much less any rifle, is not the way is done for safety sake as well as a clean kill. Too, seen to many newbies permenantly shyed off of firearms from using too much gun too soon-- though fact is with her smiling face thankfully was not the case here.

Just my .02cents, and again don't want to cause a ruckus over it, for this time all came off well. Yet felt a constructive criticism and different look at it may avoid some potential displeasure, or worse, a tragedy in the future for someone reading this?

H.S.

Wow, I've been gone a long time. Last time I was here, Eddie was married. I hate it happened Eddie, but it looks like you've recovered well.

Oh by the way, HK416 is a new moniker after I couldn't remember any of my username info. I was Podunkadunk.

I have no doubt at all that she didn't even notice the kick. When you are shooting at live game, the kick is a none issue. Sure, she may have a bruise.??....But, I am certain the first thing out of her mouth wasn't "Ouch, that hurt."

I do think it is too bad that she didn't have to work for the game. That ain't hunting in my book.

Eddie...Did you also demonstrate how to skin and dress her harvest? It is good to learn all those kind of things since that is how all our meat products originate.

That wild hog is better for you than store bought, too. They eat wild plants, roots, have no growth hormones or injections, and less fat.

Nice work!! My wife shot her second deer this season. Last year I demonstrated how to gut. She did her own this year. I was very proud!!!

I was Podunkadunk.

Welcome back!!!! Shame you had to change your name, Podunkadunk is a classic.

She told me that my rifle didn't kick at all, which is what I expected. She had zero fear of it because she's never shot one before.

She is an RN and was fascinated by all the internal organs. I think holding the heart and identifying it's parts to me was as thrilling to her as shooting the hog. We went through all the body parts and she had her hands in there with the knife cutting away.

I never met a girl who thought that gutting the animal was fun before!!! :D

Eddie,
You may have found a real keeper! It doesn't hurt that she is very easy on the eyes.

HiSierra, Welcome...the "safety police" will be in contact shortly to deliver your membership card.
