Well wife is pizzed, didn't get the first snowflake but we sure got some cold. It is sunny and 12F this morning @ 7am and lots of wind. Now at 9:30 am it has warmed up to 13F. Looks like a good day to stay inside. We have a whole flock of Canadian geese weathering the storm on our pond, most of them just huddling on the north bank avoiding most of the N NW wind. 12 F may not sound too cold to the snow country guys, but for Arkansas that is COLD and coldest I have ever seen it here. Thank God for global warming as it might have been really bad had that not happened.

Dozer, Off topic, but what size and type grader blade do you have? (Avatar)

It is Land Pride 5' grader scraper. I usually pull it with the L4610.

We used to have snow like this, there were snowmobiles in almost every drive and there were some snow blowers. The weather pattern changed and now there are few if any snowmobiles and snow blowers. Maybe the weather pattern is shifting back to like it used to be 30-40 years ago.

Meteorologists are calling the arctic air mass moving into the Southern United States the coldest in decades.

In Ottawa we are experiencing what they are calling a flash freeze, temps here will change from +9 degrees Celcius here this morning to -31 degrees this evening, huge temperature swing.

At best, we got maybe an inch or so here. My kinda' snowstorm... Although not fond of the cold temps here forecast for tonight of -9º. Would like to have seen 4" or so, to insulate the well pit. Just makes less gravel to rake out of the grass this Spring, and one more day too get things ready for gardening, and mowing grass.

Guess I'll see how well the water fountain for the horses does in the cold. Sure beats a water trough, and tank heater..!!

Glad to know about the Polar Vortex, I will keep my opinions on G.W. to myself. I wished you guys had received some of our snow. The State routes are open but lousy, the county and secondary roads are still closed. The roads are drifting back shut almost as soon as they are opened up because the wind will not abate. The good news is the temperature got up to -6, need to break out shorts and flip flops.
