Beryl seems to be heading towards us in Tyler. We received an inch of rain last night from the outer bands that was heavy for awhile, with a bunch of thunder and lightning. Our local News is saying we should get between 5 to 7 inches of rain today, and to expect flooding. They usually exaggerate everything, so who knows? I bought 20 gallons of gas for my generator just to be safe.
A month or so ago we had a series of storms that lasted three days with the first day having winds in the 60mph range. That pushed over a bunch of trees all over the area, including my place. A couple weeks ago, we had another storm that had strong winds, and more trees fell over. I haven't counted, but I'm guessing that I have at least two dozen big trees on the ground. Some are snapped off near the base, others came out with the root ball. Falling trees is probably our biggest concern with Beryl.
To be safe, and to deal with anything that might happen, I'm taking the day off staying home.
