In what part of the Dallas area does your friend live?
forth worth.
In the Spring of 1966, I was working an evening shift in north Dallas and had a brand new Chevrolet police sedan. I got off work at 11 p.m. and the two officers who relieved my partner and me drove right out Marsh Lane and got washed off a 6 lane divided roadway into a creek. The car was submerged and they were both lucky to get out with their lives.

you sure seem to be a lucky bird! :D;)

My gage shows 2.25 in. this morning. Hopefully, we'll get some more soon. The ground is still soaking up every drop because it's been a slow steady rain on-n-off here since Tuesday night. I'd be surprised to see my ponds up more than a few inches from direct rainfall.

TxDon, I'm surprised you didn't get any rain. I'm pretty sure I noticed a heavy cloud over Austin during the weather report. Maybe the storm turned north and went up the interstate instead of coming over to Lee County. The NE corner of the state will surely get a great soaking out of this. The area at Eddies place from Tyler all the way down past ********* will surely be in full bloom with dogwoods and wild flowers after this rain.:) The woods around here are white-dotted with hogplum blooms and the local peach orchards are bursting out in pink blooms. Lot's of redbuds too.

When I checked my gauge yesterday we had received 1.4 inches. We are about 25 miles to your NW. It rained all last night and is raining now. Can't wait to check the gauge again. It put about 12 inches into my top tank. Haven't been down to the bottom tank to check yet. That is the one with my catfish. Sure has been a long dry spell.

Let 'er rain!

UPDATE
My gauge showed 3.8 inches for yesterday and last night. My top tank has 7 feet, that is up 5 feet from Tuesday. My bottom tank is full at 14 feet. The catfish are good for the summer now. That means the grandkids can fish when they visit. That tank was down to about 4 feet.

It was the kind of rain we needed, steady over about 30 hours, no sudden downpour. It soaked in well. The goats are not real happy with the standing water and mud, but I am. The goats will just have to get over it. Now, if the warm weather will just come back again, things will start growing. Like grass.
The warm weather is forecast for the weekend. Yahoo!

We got 1.2 inches in our rain guage overnight. The one time I was awake it was just a steady rain. I don't know how long it lasted but there were still puddles around first thing this morning. Off and on light rain for the last hour but the puddles are all gone.

Even this amount will help as things are budding out.

Just looked at the radar and it is all moving east and looks like no more for us.

Nothing on the radar for us and it quit raining nearly 3 hours ago, but the forecast is still for a 70% chance tomorrow and lesser chances for today, tonight, and Saturday. I figure I got a grand total of about 2.37" although the official count for the airport looks to only be 1.42".

Not that lucky here. 1/10th Tuesday, 4/10's Wed Night ... light rain on and off today... BUT 70% chance tomorrow !!

Not complaining ... will take every drop I can get.

Had about 3 inches here.

Still no rain down here by the coast. Overcast and chilly. Good outdoor weather. Got some tractor work done this morning.

This morning, I had 4.25 inches in my two rain gauges at the 24 hour mark. The digital gauge reset itself back to zero last night and only said .71 this morning. We've had a few light sprinkles today, and I'm up to 4 3/8's in my gauges.

Forecast is 100% for rain today, 100% for rain tomorrow and 70% for rain tomorrow night. Then for Saturday, it drops down to 20%.

Both my ponds are full and overflowing.

At work today we got a pretty good rain all day, not sure how much. I was looking forward to getting home and see water standing, but nothing. 8 miles south of town and I probably got less than 1/4" of rain, very disappointing.

Maybe we'll get some in the coming days. It's 47 here now, and hoping for rain. Our county was added to the severe drought areas a few weeks ago.

Less than 3 inches this month so far.... and all soaked in, no runoff at all.
I still claim we are in an extreme drought.

Hi John,
I've read that ya'll are in an exceptional drought. That's supposed to mean that it's worse than severe. I live 50 miles northeast of Dallas, and we were in one of those exceptional droughts 3 and 4 years ago. I hope you get relief soon.

The rain got here yesterday afternoon. Nothing real heavy but a good soaking rain off and on for the past 16 hours. I was out and about the place this morning and saw no puddles so every thing is soaking in. The hard gumbo soil was starting to crack like we only see in July or August. This should fill some of the cracks.

looks like the rain is doing it job the right way like it supposed to. No runoff, soak in, replenish your personal lakes level, green up the stuff. Perhaps the garden will be off to a good start by now ? ;)

Whoo hoo! we finally got an inch. It's either drought or mud. Wasn't there some talk of improving roads by someone?????:D

Picture of County Road that leads to our place.

At the 48 hour mark, it's raining lightly outside and has been on and off all night. I'm at 4 3/4 inches to maybe 4 7/8's in my three rain gauges. The radar looks like a steady stream of green an spots of yellow storms lined up out past Waco and headed my way. The green usually means light, steady rain. The yellow is heavier rain. If it goes orange, it's even heavier and the red to purple radar images are severe storms.

I think I'll end up with well over five inches by the time it's through on Saturday. Everything is saturated and it's all runoff now.

The weather guy said the Trinity and Sabine rivers are cresting and there is some low areas that are flooding.

Dallas incorporated Ft. Worth?

I was in Dallas the first week of March and it was just beautiful, unlike last year when we were the last plane in due to a snow/sleet storm that closed the airport for several hours.

This year we returned to Seattle and another snow storm, I just have to quite flying home.

And this is for all you North Texas locals, what happened to all the power poles on Beltline form 635 to Coppel. I think the power company needs to get a new level.

Eddie, you are in a freaking rain forest compared to us...but it still is no fun at all, I know!!!

Butch, thanks for the good wishes... right back at 'cha! Way I read it, y'all are in a moderate drought at present.

The mighty little town of Jarrell's official weather station has posted 3.12 inches so far this entire month...and 37 degrees right now.

Yep, Larry, the first week of March this year was quite nice, and last year you must have come in on March 3. That was the day I had rain and snow and there was some sleet. I figure I got about 3.4" of water that day. All together last March I got over 9" of rain.

And this year is certainly different. I figure I've gotten about 2.82" of rain in 3 days; all very light rain but lasted quite awhile. At least that's the kind that soaks in and waters the yards good. And that's all for the month so far.
