Here comes the Rain

We had torrential rain about 5 days ago .... dunno exactly how much it was .... probably over an inch and maybe as much as 2" .....

Wouldn't have been a real big problem ..... we could certainly use the rain (fairly dry August and early September) .... except for the fact that I had over 250' of open trenches for a french drain system I'm installing .....

The forecast went from predicting about 1/4" of rain up to predicting 2"+ .....

I suppose I was lucky .... only had one small area of trench collapse .... current problem is with the weather over the past couple of days since (cool, mostly overcast) the trench bottoms have not dried out and as of yesterday were still pretty mucky ........

Hope they are dry enough to work in them today .... so I can get them closed up .... before more rain hits tomorrow and Sunday ...

Round two.
So far today's weather lot more nastier than yesterday,steady heavy rain w/gust winds so far 36mph leaves are dropping fast..thank goodness its not old man winter.

The north end of our island, which is 280 miles long, received a lot of rain a few days ago. Lots of land slides, flooding like they have never seen before and several villages and towns are cut off for several weeks as roads and bridges are washed out. One village got over 13 inches :shocked:

I discovered this morning that one of pipes at the bottom of a downspout had come off, dumping all the water along the house.
