Current conditions in the southeast metro of the Twin Cities (Minneapolis-St.Paul MN): I'm looking out my window at 10" of snow. I've had my BX plugged in since last night, with a full tank of diesel (with white bottle additive). She should be ready to go.

I am also looking at the radar and there is another band of snow just hitting our areas that the news says may cause white out conditions for a few hours. Hmm, tempting. I'll prolly wait for this band to pass before getting out there to push some snow around. I'm looking forward to it.

Man I'm jealous. Only had my tractor out twice this year. This storm is suppose to completely miss us!
Enjoy!

Thanks Stoweski. I will enjoy. Especially using the FEL to dig through the 3 foot drift and pile where the driveway meets the road. I will think about last year, when I used a hand shovel to dig through that (and our driveway is 12 feet wide.

Well, I was wondering when we were going to hear from you up there.

I plowed everything out yesterday and had to do it again today to be able to get out. We are on top of the ridge and get a lot of wind that blows snow everywhere.
Since I just got my 2005 L3400 last Dec. this is the first real chance that I have had to use it. One of things that I soon discovered is the value of the HST for getting unstuck. Trying to rocking back and forth to get unstuck is one of the hardest things there is on a normal shift transmition, going from forward to reverse and back again quickly, but works great with the HST. Just hold your foot on the HST pedal and rock it forward and back and your moving again in no time. I would have been stuck several times without it.

Anyway, it’s good that you have a full tank and are ready to go.

Later!

Once again, I too am jealous of your snow! Here in Little Rhody we are slated to get another whopping 1-3" tonight/tomorrow. Which really translates to 2" ending with sleet and rain, leaving behind an icy mess initially, which later transforms into a muddy mess.

I'm north metro (Chisago City) my BX2230 made quick work of the 12 inches of snow and up to 4 foot drifts in my drive + 3 of the neighbor drives. I finally got to test out the FEL in some real snow and so far I love it. We're supposed to get another dumping of up to a foot mid-week so I may get to play again... Finally!!!

Have fun digging out!

The snow missed us here in NE Ontario. I was looking forward to using my new v-bar ladder chains but the sun shine up here is even better.

Hey Jason,

I'm down in Cottage Grove (near Afton). I don't think we got quite a foot, but pretty close.

I didn't fair so well with my BX 2230. It took a bit of time just digging my way from the shed to the driveway (about 600 feet of gravel drive). I used the FEL for a while, until I got stuck twice on the incline. Later, I just went over it twice with the back blade. First cut off the top 6 inches, slinging it aside with the blade angled one way, then taking the rest out with the blade angled the other way. I will say I was NOT able to get up the driveway. The snow was squishy wet and had a bit of frozen rain underneath. I used the walk behind snowblower to cut a tire path to get some traction, then edged the rest aside with the backblade. Today, I cleaned it up a bit to get down to the gravel underneath the ice and freezing rain.

All in all, a good learning experience and a lot of fun. I don't have a snowmobile, so this is as close as it gets.

A couple of weeks ago, we'd had three light snowfalls, with 1-2" for each. I couldn't justify the diesel to clear any of it, but then my wife suggested after the third time that I clear it up a bit. I did. It worked well, digging underneath ice and snow to pull up some gravel that I could then shovel onto the ice, and pack the gravel into the top of the ice for bite. Worked like a charm, and was fun.:)
