Here is a couple things I recently built for my tractor. The tractor is a Shibaura SD1840 with a FEL. I've had it for about 7 years and it has been completely trouble free and a real great tool to have around.

Anyway, I built a bolt on tooth bar for the FEL and "potato plow" for the back. I built it mostly for trenching. I hang a block of concrete from the hook to help it really dig down deep.

Nice work! I Hope you don't mind me copying your trencher design, I'm about to put automatic sprinklers in my yard, and that is gonna prevent a lot of hand digging! Thanks for sharing!

Yep, that looks a bit narrower than potato plows (middle buster), but that's probably a plus when it comes to trenching. Good job.

Nice job..looks professional!!!

That would work nice for a sprinkler system install.

Thanks, and of course I don't mind. Thats why I shared. It does work out pretty good for a trench. I have quite a bit of french drains and trenching in my future.

I know this is an old post, but rummabing through the "oldies" I saw this and am wondering a few things, like how well they work, how easy the trencher is to use, and for Crusty Nut, how you made the bevel on the digger teeth?

Thanks

They both work great. I've since added a trailer ball to the rear of the trencher to give it more versitilty.

The tooth bar is something I wish I would have added years ago. It allows you to actually dig some with the FEL instead of just scooping up things.

As far as the bevel on the teeth, do you mean the tooth bar or the trencher? The toothbar is just 1/2" X 2" flat bar cut at a 45* angle with the port-o-band.
The trencher is made out of 1/2" plate and I shaped it some with a torch and a BFH.

thats nice looking work and pretty impressive torch cuts of the plow or bevel piece even if you did grind for 2 hours after. I know i would have had to and it still wouldn't look like that.

Good stuff, I built a nearly identical trencher for running pex out to the garden for a sprinkler system. I have a question on the tooth bar. I plan on building one soon. Do you need the pre cut angle on the teeth or can straight out be just as effective? Never tried one so I am unsure but I guess I would have went straight out and I want to do it right. Please advise.
Thanks.
