Yes! Those are real trucks.

They have been around a long time. You can get them with a 3pt hitch on the front or rear or both. They have them with FELs, Backhoes, cranes, snowblowers, just about anything. 2dr, 4 dr, 3 way tipper beds. Many tranny options and on board hydraulics. We like to call them HUMMER recovery vehicles.

Someday, I will own one! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I love that 650 pickup. If I had the $$ to waste I would take that over the Unimog as well. The F-650 is much more practical (if you can call either of these vehicles practical /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif) than the Unimog. With the 650 you can tow a heavy horse trailer or 5th wheel in comfort and style. The Unimog is great if you drill wells, haul timber or run a militia in your spare time but it doesn't look like it would be all that happy going down the highway for a long time. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

You can also order the F-650 with CAT 300hp/800 lbs. of torque motor for some impressive towing power. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

A car restorer has 2 Unimogs around here. They are great for moving autos around the muddy lot. One has a forklift on the front for moving wrecks and the other larger one just has a bed and a plow. I admit they are fascinating vehicles and I always check them out but other than commercial/municipal use I can't see how one could get much use from one.

The older mogs was awfully slow on the highway from the low gearing etc,I do not know how the newer ones are,but they are they have a nice looking interior/air conditioning etc.If a guy was needing to do a lot of trailering the 650 would be better or more feasible, but more feasible yet the F-350 or F-250.
But other than that the mogs are available with so many options,I have seen the dump beds on them where they dump frome both sides or on the back.
You would pay through the nose for a new mog,but a Mercedes product is a good product. If the mogs are engineered as well as the Mercedes cars,I would be more than happy to own a mog.

On the Travel Channel the other night, they had a program about millionaires toys. They showed a class A motor home that was more luxurious than many homes. The kicker was that it had a garage in the rear with a new mini Cooper automobile. The car was was part of the package. If my memory does not fail me I believe they quoted $500,000 for the price.

Honestly I expect the one I saw topped a million dollars. 500k is not that much any more. lol. The biggest stock air streams top 400k. many of the bus conversions are 500-750k and up. Some one has to win the lotto /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif A rear garage would be a neat feature though, especially weith a mini cooper in it. Dave

I missed the show, and motorhome, you're talking about, but I did recently see another show where they were talking about, and showing, some of the Prevost models that go for $750,000 to about $1.3 million. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

This would be in that class for sure. I tried to dig the camera out and get a photo but thats a little hard goin 70 mph pullin a tractor. lol. I hate seeing those things because my wife keeps sayin...I want to go in one. And You Know what that rwally means. My wallet shrinks a size just thinking about even a mini winni. Dave

Lawman, Dad told me when he and mom lived in South Carolina a year before i was born, that Case was bringing Unimogs over and painting them Case industrial colors. Ive seen a few on the net and they look nice Dad said back then they were 30 000. Dad said they demoed them with a front hay mower and a rear haymower with the arms set oposite fro each other to cut the hay. Ive seen them with the loader and Hoe and also with the dozer and hoe conversion. THeres an old one a about 30 miles from here infront of an old barn and not too many folks can tell what it is let alone its a truck since it matches the cedars its parked in. Im itching to ask about it just for a woods buggy.

I have long been a fan of the Unimog. They're very popular as firefighting vehicles in heavily wooded areas. You can even get them equipped with water cannons and front mounted chain saws for creating a firebreak. When the original Hummers were getting play as the latest super SUV for something over $50,000 a copy I thought that the Unimog, then in the $70,000's, might take off as the next new biggest, baddest boy on the block. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

It turned out that the eleven foot tall Mog was a bit much even for the likes of Ahhhnold, though. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif The problem might have been you couldn't be seen in it as easily. After all, what's the point of buying a status symbol if no one knows it's yours?

I thought having a Mog with a water cannon would be the ultimate big boy toy. Imagine that car load of hip hoppers with the top down and the gajillion watt stereo pumping out that head pounding bass at the traffic light. Now imagine me with a high powered water cannon in the next lane one car back. Kind of makes you smile, doesn't it? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
