This county owned mowing rig was parked across the street from my parent's house this weekend so I snapped a couple pic's of it to show. Not sure what the duct tape on the left rear fender was all about? And I guess that jack mounted on the mower deck is used to hold the tongue up whenever the mower is disconnected from the tractor?

That's a nice rig for sure! I especially like the wire mesh over the rear window.

Yeah, jack on the counterweight is for when you unhook it. If that bush hog is as heavy as mine they'll also need to put a scrap board or something under the foot of the jack. Otherwise in a few days time it'll sink in the dirt about 2". Been there, done that.

For what that mower is capable of going through I would think you would want R4s on the tractor - a little thicker hide.

That's a good idea for all size brush hogs. Here's mine on my 2008 Mahindra 5525 that protects my backside when I use my 6-ft Hawkline hog and the flail mower. I used hose clamps to install that expanded metal screen the day after the 5525 was delivered.
