My neighbor asked me if he could hire me to bush hog about an acre of his property which was really overgrown. Being the nice guy that I am I offered to do it for free since he is a neighbor.
About halfway through, I hit a piece of steel that looked like an old bush hog blade that went through the top of my bush hog and then cut a gash about 9 inches long in my rear tire.
I had to get a new tire to replace the one that had been in perfect condition and a new bush hog. The cutter was pretty rusty so I would have needed a new one soon anyway but buying a new rear tire set me back a pretty penny.
About a week later he asked me if I was going to finish the job and I explained to him that the trash in his weeds cost me about $2000 so I wasn't going to risk it anymore. He hired someone else to do it for $100 but, of course, never offered to pay me anything since I had offered to do it for free.
