Re: Here\'s what the stork delivered!!

As a new user I got a dumb question. How tough are these machines?? I tend to be very, very hard on equipment, meaning I use them for what they're designed for, but I maintain them and take care of them as well. After the stuff I got done in a few short hours (leveling rocky ground, brush cutting saplings up to 2", knocking down big trees...etc) I'm amazed this thing is supposed to last years. I have a feeling it will take a pounding under my care.

Re: Here\'s what the stork delivered!!

Laminarman, I work my tractor very hard. I try not to abuse it by slamming it around, but I push it to the maximum and I exceed it's limits of power very often. So far the tractor has just said, "Is that all you got?." I don't have a single hydraulic leak and I think my tractor is as strong at 600 hr as it was when new. This is hard working equipment and it can take it. It sounds to me like you are finding plenty of the right kinds of chores for your tractor. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Re: Here\'s what the stork delivered!!

Yes you're right, I have a great deal to do. Jobs that took whole weekends by hand now take minutes. God I should have done this sooner. Why didn't you just tell me!! You can't describe to someone the steam you release being on your machine.

Laminarman, that is a fine looking outfit /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif. Glad to hear you are enjoying it. And don't feel bad about the picture thing. I still haven't figured it out /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif.

Re: Here\'s what the stork delivered!!

Thats a nice looking Boomer. I see you got it set up with the factory wheel weights. Did you get the 3-point weight bar for it as well?

Re: Here\'s what the stork delivered!!

Hi Mike. I'm claiming ignorance and assume the 3pt weight bar is something to give additional weight to the rear?? Not really sure what you're talking about. I have another set of weights coming yet, and my dealer saw my land and what I was doing and said I had enough there. I didn't want calcium because of the corrosion, and he can't do antifreeze because of the environmental laws. I don't anticipate doing any real heavy loader work, mostly shrubs, trees and hopefully lifting new implements off a trailer in the future!!

Re: Here\'s what the stork delivered!!

Laminarman I felt the same way as I didn't want to end up with liquid ballast filled tires either. The thought of servicing a 400 pound rear tire was a total turn off for me. I put 3 cast weights on each rear tire and a weight rack on the back for additional stability. If you click on my signature link you can see my weight setup. It comes off easily so that I can get the planting done early and don't tear up the turf when it's soft. Once things firm back up, I then put the weight back on. There are a LOT of advocates of liquid ballasted tires but I'm not one of them.

Re: Here\'s what the stork delivered!!

I must agree with Jinman.
Even though these CUTS aren't Industrial Duty they take a beating. I always take care of mine in the sense of maintenance and try to keep it somewhat cosmetically sound. After all when you're a working man you learn the value of money and appreciate what you have. But I do use it for what it was built for "WORK" and when I need it for a chore I use it to its limits and my newest New Holland has never let me down. If this tractor treats me as well as my old one I can expect nothing but horsepower and trouble free operation. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
Sometimes you have to play as hard as you work though. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
