Hesston 1070 haybine info

Well I bought the 1070 yesterday. My tractor will pull it around and run it fine.

I ordered a manual for it. I need to see how to adjust the rollers. One side has slightly more of a gap than the other.

It has one rubber and on steel roller. They don't look to intermesh like chevron rollers on a new holland. Looks like the hay just gets crimped on the high points of the rollers.

Is this correct? Does it do a good job of drying down the hay?

Per the parts book (sign is as a guest) the rollers interlock. Perhaps one is worn out? AGCO Parts Books

How can you tell they intermesh from the drawings. All I can see is a drawing on the parts.

The rollers dont appear to have a lot of wear. It just looks like they have opposing twists that wont line up. I hope thats how its supposed to work. If they are supposed to lock together then I have big problems lol

Its just the way it looks. Puzzling none of the rollers in the parts book look smooth. Probably worth a phone call to a dealer. MF now carries the Hesston line if that helps.

Some of the stand alone conditioners have roller operate at different speeds against each other(shearing action). Perhaps yours operates like that.

My rollers did not intermesh. It didnt appear they were meant to. I just adjusted them so that they touched. The system allows them to spread if a heavy load of grass is feeding thru ... or a stick.

Is the rubber rollers pretty tough on these? Mine has some cracking but no missing or peeling.

Does the style of rollers on this mower conditioner do a good job of cracking the stems on hay?

Even with the gap set at 1/16" like the book says it just doesn't look like it's gonna work good.
