I new your LTD was from that era,my cousin had a late 60's or early 70's model. If I remember right the headlights would be hidden unitl they were turned on and rotate out to where you could see them when they were turned on.

That would have been 69, or 70, with the hide-a-way headlights.

To me it looks like the old Alpha Romeo's without the little spoiler on the back of the trunk. I don't know if Ford will make a go of this, it seems kinda pricey to me when you already have a well established "performance" car in the Corvette for about the same price. (Did I say that?) I think when they were aiming for low 30k range it would have been huge!!!

If my Bird wasn't sitting in the garage begging for some new brake lines I'd take a picture of her for y'all./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

Hey: Hillbilly I got a Boat for ya...

My next door neighbor is an older retired feller and he has a mid-70's Pontiac Bonneville. I believe it only has 5000 miles on it. He just retired it to the garage where it only comes out once a year for a wax job and to charge the battery. Heck of a nice car - like new in fact. He told me he wanted to sell it early this summer, but he's like me... Not a very agressive salesman. If you are interested I'll find out more.

I don't think the new T'Birds are a performance car./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif They are more a boulevard car, for cruising up and down Woodward Avenue. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I realize that, they are just what the '55 to '57 t-birds were....more of a personal touring car. I wish I could remember exactly what they called it in their marketing. What I'm saying is that for the same money you could GET a performance car in a two seat arrangement. Initially it was to sell for much less than the Vette and I think that would have been a better market. What this car reminds me of is the Buick Reatta. REALLY nice looking hardtop or convertable that was REALLY expensive and not a real hot performer. There apparently wasn't a hugh market for this combo and it is sadly no longer being produced. It will be interesting if Ford can stomach more than three years, as they did with the original Bird, of niche sales without turning it into a four seater. This is coming from a person who has an old '65 Vette and an old '64 Bird and I much prefer my Bird for comfort, styling and just out and out cruising.

It also should make a buyers market for anyone looking for a nice used car. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I get to visit the T'Bird plant quite frequently. Some of the people at Ford have made comments that the new T'Bird was designed for the female buyer. It just might be a seller if that is their goal. My wife likes their looks./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif She wouldn't trade her Astro Van for one though./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
