I have a JD 4700 utility tractor with front end loader and a JD 5510. I mostly use these tractors maintaining my property and planting food plots. I joined this site to help in repairing my JD 4700. Sometimes it will not start and based on what I have read here, I think it is the "Thermistor." This appears to be a cheap part and fairly easy to replace. I also need to find out why my temp gauge keeps giving my a false reading on the JD 4700. It will be normal then suddenly go way over in the RED. I checked the temp with a heat gun and the temp is normal. Eventually the gauge goes back to working normal.
