Finally there are 4 sets of wagon running gear coming up at an auction Between Antlers and Hugo ... April 9th

I will be there ... still need to make them hay racks. BTW may be something there for anyone close to that area.

To bad you were not closer this weekend they sold a pair of nice 8 x 16 thrower boxes with 8 ton gears under them for $650.

Well I am always looking for just about anything ... Thats a deal on the thrower wagons ... I bought a grapple and will be building the accumulator ... so I am thinking about a couple more flat hay racks to stack square bales on.

Of course after reviewing all the stuff ... I could use a skid steer and some of those SSQA atatchmnets.

I went over and looked at all the stuff ... nice really nice. The guy has alot of good equipment.

Farmi winch never used ... would like that. The Backhoe purrs like a kitty, alot of hrs... better plan on spending the day !!

Well didn't buy too much ... 2 good hydraulic cylinders with hose's in like new condition ... 1 wagon running gear.

I got a little start over the weekend ... in between building the accumulator. Removed the reach pole and added a longer one ... got the long beams ready to mount. The bed will be rough cut 2x6's.

Nice pics. I was wondering where the stub axle is on the king pin, is the king pin just a shaft in a bushing or tubing, or does the king pins have bearings? I thought about making one actually, for a small 28 hp tractor. I can get stub axles, but was wondering what was used for king pins.

This has a king pin on the tongue where it meets the frame, the actual steering is ball joints on the axles and the tongue.

Yeah I can see the pin in the tongue for the draw bar and the ball joints. But the stub axles are welded to a vertical tubing and that is pinned to the the frame or trailer bunk? Or is it a vertical pin in the tubing with bearings bearings? We had old wagons here one time, but it looked like father made them out of front ends and such, so they would have just had ball joints to support the stub axles. Thanks for the reply . I now understand your question better ... the stubs are welded to a vertical tubing to the frame with a greasable zerk that allows the movement ... is that more of what your asking? I can take better close up pictures .

Well ... got it finished and will put some pictures up ... it will get tested about Wednesday ... pictures will come.

Ok, yeah that explains. the stubs are just welded to a vertical tubing, with a grease fitting. Inside would be just a brass bushing and a pin? Do any of them use bearings around the pin or is it standard just to have a vertical tube and pin? How large is the pin on your wagon?

I would make one , but its hard to find tubes . I do see tubes for hydraulic cylinders, I think 2 inche in outside diameter with 1" ID, and then I could just use a 1 inch round stock, the tubes are already drilled for a zerk. Just weld the vertical tube to a hub and make a mount to hook up the tierod end. The wagons seem quite expensive when this is all it is. The the tube in the center of the wagon would be a little hard to come by as well.

Man disapointed ... with a capital D ... the main wagon beams, 1 - 18' 2x6 and two sliced together to make 18' or basicly a 4.5 inch by 18' beam, two of them SAGGED with the first load ... 150 square bales.

So now my plan is jack up the beams wih a crown of about 3/4" and then add 3/4 inch plywood to both sides of the two beams with 5/16" bolts 16" O/C.

I am also thinking I need to move the front axle back 1' and the rear axle forward 3' ... sure was pretty before we loaded it!!!!!

I noticed that the distance the tie rods are from the king pin, is shorter then the tie rod drawabar connection is from the center of the front trailer axle/bunk. wouldnt this make the wheels turn sharper then wagon is being pull with the drawbar? I was going to say, put the tie rod end at a distance of say 6" from the king pin. So I would also put it 6" from where the drawbar swing pin.

sorry, I just noticed that it is probably equal distances. The pin for the draw bar is out in front of the bunk where as the king pins for the wheels are in the center line of the bunk. so the king pins are set back a few morn inches then the draw bar pin. Explains why there are angles on the tie rod itself from the bunk/axle/cross member.
