Hey Moss, ya still there?

That seems to be a pretty corrosive statement Moss, I would have expected something from the likes of many of us TBNers, but from a mod???

This one......

Moss actually makes a good point that I never questioned and I should of known better.

When I moved to upstate NY, everyone pronounced the the town of Pulaski NY with the long "I", and I never once questioned it.

Both my parents grew up in two small different coal mining towns that were filled with Eastern Euorpeans that had some interesting last names, some which were changed over the course of years to make it easier for other people to pronounce. My own family (not polish) name was changed to Lasky for a period of time (changed again over time), but the name was pronounced "Las Skee". We had a heavy influence of Polish people as well whose names ended in "ski". We all had our share of politically uncorrect ethnic jokes (the way my dad spoke, the race riots back in those small towns in the 20's through 50's was Eastern Eruopeans vs the Western Europeans, particularly Irish), and the one polish joke I always knew as a kid was "why do Polacks always end their name in ski? Because they can't spell tabaggon" (that joke would make no sense if the name was pronounced the long I at the end of the name).

Sorry for taking the train off the track...

Living on a farm for multiple generations, teaching each successive generation to intentionally mispronounce a name makes you multi-generational idiots.
