I had to clear out an acre of cat tails in very wet and swampy area. I used a regular riding lawn mower by opening its deflector flap open with high flow blades. Went very slow and got it cleared up in around 8 hours.
I did get it stuck once but got off it and picked it up out of muck and kept on going.

Appreciate the comment, but naw that don't work here, been there done that. I'm gonna see if I could rip them out somehow while leaving the grass, we'll see.

Rent a walk behind brush cutter Thats does about an acre in 2hrs

I looked at a add on grapple for just the bucket but the sides of the standard bucket are tall not like the clam bucket where the sides are cut down for more room for longer limbs and branches, after I get the tiller I will re evaluate the grapple, maybe just the bucket add on grapple would be ok for my needs and besides I do have a cutting torch so I can cut the sides of the bucket down and then reinforce the sides if I decide it would work better, I do consider the HF trencher I bought part of my scut now and I did just order a thumb for it to help move some of the felled trees and rocks that are on my property now.
I will take another look at just the bucket add on grapple, maybe that is all I really need. K.I.S.S.

Yeh, I saw precision mfg's add-a-grapple, that thing is pretty sweet with how you could take it off real fast when not needed. But I was thinking same thing, the bucket sides get in the way. I'm curious, cost comparison, buying a beater ssqa bucket, cutting out the sides to how you want them, and then mounting the grapple thumb on it, vs just buying a real grapple.

My Thumb showed up today so now I have a reason to heat the shop up for a bit.


This is the Titan bolt on grapple I have been looking at for around a grand, I have seen it a bit cheaper then listed here and then I still need to and on 3rd function for 7-800.00 bucks.




If I had a SSQH on my FEL then I would probably go a different route, I do not want to get overly invested in the 1705 in case I upgrade in a couple years.

Thanks, that’s the one I seen awhile back and yes that is right up my alley. I knew I had seen it cheaper and it’s the same one if you compare pics. Shipping and tax bring it to 1000.00.

Whoops, tax and shipping, didn't figure that in. So I guess around the same price as titan's grapple on amazon, like a hundred less maybe.
