The shape of the gear box doesn't look like it would be a worm gear setup. Both shafts look like they are centered in the casting, one would have to be offset for the worm shaft.

no rule says you must have offset for a worm.. a square box with 2 right angle shafts can work fine .. just have extra space on non engaged side of the worm...

I just skimmed thru this entire post. I own one that was purchased with my Iseki TU 1700. Used the mower for the past 3 summers mowing 4-5 acres per week. Very good cut, easy to adjust belt, wheels. The only complaint I have is the wheels wear quickly. You can find belts and blades at Agri Supply. These units are are also sold at other places under different names. Best of all if they have one at our Richmond, VA HF location I will by another on Friday and save for later date. For the prices we pay for Woods, Land Pride etc, this is a good deal if you take care of your equipment. Well worth the sale price and even at $599 it is a good deal.

I just re read it and was going to order one and see it says I might be interested in this
37" PTO Shaft Assembly for Finishing Mowers
So im now assuming it doesnt come with the shaft? This would be my first impliment to not come with one. Also says an additional ''subject to $89.95 additional Freight Charge
'' so once you ad the shaft and the standard freight and the 89,95 surcharge the pice goes up a bit.

The one my neighbor down the road has came with the pto shaft. I think the are just showing it as a replacement.

it seems like one of the sticking points of this mower is people are unsure of the gear box components. like if it has replaceable wear parts.. or not.

a parts breakdown would be nice.

it was mentioned this chinese unit is sold under other brands. one of those might actually have an exploded parts diagram. that's what I was getting at.

if it wasn't such a mystery about the gearbox.. more people might be interested in taking the chance on the mower.
