HF Quick Attachment Question

I have an Implement Quick Attachment from HF. I am not sure the purpose of the hook on the top link used to connect the attachment, (chain... maybe?) I can think of different better ways of connecting, but maybe I am missing the concept.

A bolt or pin and bushing goes in the hole in the attachment, and the hook on the hitch engages it. Not great pictures of it, but here is a couple I have handy:

The purpose of the top hook as well as the other two lower hooks is to hold the implement in a fixed mounting position. Center to center the top hook should be 15" above the lower hooks. Notice this top hook has a deeper captive distance for holding the implement compared to the lower links, this allows you to line up the top hook before engaging the lower hooks. The top hook is strong enough to hold the entire implement keeping it from falling incase the lower links are not mated up properly.

I don't see how a chain would have the proper attributes to make this work.

The hook is a pain. I used one bolt instead of two so I could swivel it out to grab the implement.
Just ordered/received the adaptor. Call 1-800-423-2567. PN 29309 OVGA.

Thanks. I realize that it was a stupid question. I guess I should have tried to install it first. Now it is clear how this hook works, although it may not work on some of my implements.
What does this adapter look like? Is it from HF?

I did the same as silvertramp did except HF had them on backorder when I wanted mine. So I went to a TSC store and had them order an adapter from Speeco. I think it was about $21.

I took the bolts out of my hook and replaced them with pins. Now I can remove it or move it more easily.

The key to making any of these quick attach hitches work is uniformity, that is you need to take the time to make the implements work with a fixed hook configuration. I much prefer the welded in place hook as on the IMatch, since all three connection points are fixed with this sytem full benefit is only derived when the implements spot on. With about 15 implements some of different brands I spent the better part of a day making 14 of these fit the IMatch. Since then I have been able to change implements at whim with out any of the prior grief. Usually takes a minute to disconnect one and pickup another, also don't need helpers.
