Rear Blade HF Quick hitch too narrow

You could add a lot of strength in the lower pin area by making it a captured pin-a pin with supports on both ends. If the QH will fit between the square box and the pin then just a small piece of 1/4" with a 7/8" hole lined up with the existing hole, weld it on about 2" inside the other and get a pin that fits through both. You have a stronger pin area, and have solved your location problem.

I would definitely do what was necessary to make it fit--having a QH is just too handy.

I guess I dont quite get what you mean by making it a captured pin a pin with supports on both ends, could you draw me a diagram what your talking about? What sucks is im going off the HF dimensions, and the inside dimension of the blade hitch hookup is 28"

It would be a clevis design and the QH would grab the pin between the two arms of the clevis.
This is how the lower link hook up of my RFM works (although it needs to be modified to fit my quick hitch too).

Based upon your measurements of the rear blade, I think doing something like this would require substantial modification. "Substantial" is a relative term depending on your skills in fabrication.

This may be what is meant. It is a clevis-style as Roy pointed out.

Notice the large nut with a washer welded to it as a spacer. That would allow your QH to fit tightly if the current lift pin mount will work for one end of the clevis hitch. Also in the photo is a CAT 2 bushing - which you don't need.

Anyway, you'd have to cut off your present lift pin mounting plate and weld on a couple of plates with a hole in each one. Depending on your setup, it may not be possible. A welding shop can make them for you.

OR - you could get a Pat's Quick Change and be done with it all. They will fit nearly everything. But you probably already considered that.

There are several threads on the QH controversy. Some guys are willing to modify their equipment to all fit their favorite framed (non-adjustable) QH. Others go with the Pat's or similar.

I have included a pic of my rollover that I made which has "captured pins" and the QH which I also made. :D You can read about my process of modifying my implements to fit the QH. I am so thankful that I did. Just the other day I knocked down some piles with the rollover and then made a nice road with the RB. The time to change from one to the other--not much longer than it has taken you to read this post and definitely shorter than it has taken me to write it. :(

 Good point (but we'd missed out on the chat) , and nice work on the QH Mike.

Whenever possible people should not buy implements that don't have the standard cat dimensions and flock to the manufacturers that do. This would push the industry into a very rapid change.

The 3 point idea is clumsy and outdated, at least the quick hitch had taken us out of the ice age.

Actually, the 3PH is a quite versatile tool but does require a minor degree of work. One just has to get their butt off the seat.
I have a QH...made a mistake buying it too (in retrospect). The Pat's Easy Change system works a lot better and fits virtually any implement with no modifications.
But, one has to be willing to get their ***** off the seat!

Very nice work Mike, sorry i was a little slow on this concept, thanks for the idea. this just might work for me. a little modification but i think I will wait till i get my QH before any mods. Thanks again

Good thinking!!
Who knows, it might fit great with no modification.
Also, before you do anything to the blade, call the place you bought it from and explain the situation. The measurements you made might indicate a factory defect. Might be another blade on his lot that has the correct dimensions for a Cat 1 hitch.
But once you make that first cut on the blade, there's no going back...

I got the harbor freight quick hitch, and I have the opposite issue. I have a Land Pride box blade, and the clevis type pins are too narrow for the bottom hooks on the quick hitch. I measured the inside between the bottom hooks and it is not 27.5 inches between them, and the outside measures almost 30 inches. if it were 29.5 inches on the outside, the hooks could grab the clevis pins, and I am sure I'd find a different issue.
now, I do agree that the three point system is a very versatile attachment system, I have a B2620, and those stupid chains that come with it drive me nuts. I am used to the old John Deere stuff from when I was a kid. You could back up and hitch without too much trouble. these little arms just swing in and I have to try to hold them out while backing up so I can hook up. otherwise they just swing to the middle. That is why I want a quick hitch.
So, I'll just modify the cheap harbor freight to work. It just seams like I am having the opposite problem every one is complaining about. I can't be the only one! can I?:confused2:
