Has anyone noticed that several of the .99 cent things are now always close to 2 dollars? I assume this is how they are surviving the crisis. Split leather gloves used to be .99 cents they almost doubled to 1.99. And this is one of the items Ive watched now since summer. Never gone lower. Also theres several others that have made a huge increase.I understand they probably had to increase but it seems like they really hit some of the 'consumables' i.e. grinder wheels cut off wheels, elect tape, saw blades.
Still a good price on most stuff overall..

The split leather gloves. My wife bought me a "six pack" of those for Christmas last year. They call them "split" leather for a reason. I wore 1 pair a day for 6 days. Every pair split at the seams. Not too bad for $6.00 at the time.

Many of those items could have been their "loss leaders" (products they sell at less than their normal margins to get customers in the door).
