Hi, We have a 4835 Ford Newholland, we are using as seppi flail deck mower and we keep snapping the bolts in the back roller, there is a lot of vibration and we cannot figure out what is causing it. how can we get the roller balanced? or figure out why it is vibrating enough to break the bolts on the roller after only cutting on a flat surface for about 100 yards.

Some pictures of this implement would be helpful.

Is the pto shaft phased correctly? Phasing is setting the forks of the pto universal joints in the correct position so the shaft does not whip and vibrate. Look at your owners manual for the flail and it should tell you what the correct phasing is.

Is the roller driven? If it is, it may be bent or misaligned. If it's not and it just contacts the ground and rolls at ground speed, that's not likely the problem

Thanks for the reply,
we have modified the stabilizer arms and float the balance with chains.
This has been the way we used it last year and did not have this problem.

the rear roller that is snapping bolts is not belt driven, the flail roller is belt driven and when we get it home tonite we can check the flail roller to see if that is off balance. we figure that if we take all the shackles and teeth off it will reveal whether it is the flail roller or could possibly be the shackles and cutting teeth?
