The two hydraulic levers are to operate a up/down cylinder (the left stick) and the left/right angle for a plow (the right stick). The left stick is detented to allow the "float" position you're looking for. Push the lever all the way forward hard and it will go into the float position where the hydraulic ram will be driven by the implement. The left stick will stay forward when it is in the float position. Just pull it back to return it to the hydraulically-locked position.

Any chance you can post a video of the 1948 working now that we are "in the season"?

Now that makes sense to me and I can now tell you why it wasn't working for me. The small plastic piece that the sticks use to pivot is broken. The sticks flop around and I have to keep pulling them back into position. I have to make a new pivot piece out of aluminium or something.

We are due or another hit of snow so I will get to run it again in the next couple of days. It's hard to get a video but I will see what I can do.

I need to take the second stage apart and straighten out the fan blades. It should blow a little better than it does. Right now I run it on the 3 gear PTO setting (1040?) and about 2000-2200 for hard blowing. Th wiring for the blower was missing but I did get the chute motors wired up to the control box and that works tops. A couple days of tinkering and it will be how I want it. I just need the time to get it done and the snow and cold to let up for a few days. We are just recovering from the Christmas ice storm.

I'm confused. Isn't the thrower on the front of the tractor? The front is on/off only and not speed selectable through a gear box like the rear PTO.
