G'day, im from Perth, Western Australia. Currently i don't have a tractor, but that is the reason i have joined up here. Having just purchased a few acres down south a tractor is in my sights and i'm hoping to get some ideas and information before i jump in and make my purchase. ;)

fivegallon,

Welcome. We will do our best to help you choose the correct tractor for you. That is the most important part. There are many good tractors out there, finding that one that fits you and the work you want it to do can be a challenge, but well worth the search.

Welcome aboard. An individual doesn't purchase a tractor everyday. For some it is once in a lifetime.. Please take your time and consider, both your Present needs and your Future needs.

Welcome and ejoy the hunt. For some it is as fun as finally buying one. I would suggest a used one for your first tractor. If you buy a used one and begin using it a lot you will soon find out what more or less you really need and you won't be out the cost of trying to get as much as you can from a tractor bought new.
How much land did you buy and what all are you planning on doing with your new tractor?

I have bought 4.5 acres of flat cleared land, 6km from the Southern Ocean.
Long term work will be maintaining fire-breaks and keeping the growth down (ie slashing to help keep snakes to a minimum).
Possible opportunities up picking up local work doing the same.
Intermittent work on the property doing vegetable plots and small windrows for water diversion along with driveway maintenance.
Opportune work dragging/pushing large objects around the property and other minor jobs
