not the weeds but woody plants are the problem, for example thorns from mesquite can pop a tire, but not only that. A big part of the land that is not covered in brush is uneven: holes from pulling out stumps, 1-3 inch diameter and around 10 inch in height cutstumps from very hardwood spiny brush, etc. There are some plots of less than 5 hectares that are cleared of brush and have an established cover of buffelgrass and botriochola pertusa. I plan on clearing more plots slowly and try to establish perennial grasses myself, also near a "resaca" and a "creek" that run thru the land, the terrain is uneven there but I will try irrigation with the bcs pump that I got as well!! hahaha![]()
My grandfather used to grow sorghum, cartamo and corn, but not anymore, agriculture went down the drain after NAFTA and USA dumping subsidized crops, selling calves is still an ok business around here.
I bought my stuff from earth tools! had it delivered to a freight terminal in harlingen texas, returning to mexico with my new stuff was a hassle! had to wait 4 weeks until the mexican customs "authorities" decided it was ok to do the import of my stuff, I tried self-declaration at the customs but the price of the invoice was greater than 5000 usd...
Yikes! Sounds like a good time for a "harmless" border smuggling operation. If Nafta screwed up farming, where's the free trade on ag implement imports? You guys got burned on both ends of the deal from the sound of it! But on the other hand, you probably have great exclusivity on that primo equipment, no one else has it I bet! The effort you made and the waiting just makes your now free and clear ownership all the sweeter. BCS is the ferrari of two wheel tractors (literally, I think it is owned by ferrari in italy lol)
I really enjoyed your video by the way. Those steel tracks are so cool, I definitely covet them..
