What would a higher performance fuel pump do for me?

Why, pump more fuel into your engine, of course!

I was joking. Some higher performance fuel pumps provide a better (quieter, smoother - less micro-surges) and more accurate fuel pressure output. Although one could be higher volume, it wouldn't necessarily cause the truck to burn more fuel since that is dictated in large part by other components.

The fuel line might have gotten twisted/kinked when you were changing the filter. Happened to my neibor. He was fighting with that truck forever to try to get it running right.

It runs fine. It just whines. Kind of like my kids. I can't see anything wrong, but they still whine when I make them work more than about 15 minutes.

My neibor's didn't run like crap right off the batt, it took several months until the pump started to fail. before then there was just a little extra pump noise he didn't notice until the line was fixed and a new pump was installed.

no advice on the kids.

When I hear a high-pitched whining in the front seat of my truck, I just drop her off at the mall. It's usually an expensive fix, but worth it.

Of course she's been known to send me to Tractor Supply to stop a low-pitched grumbling noise that you can hear all over the house.
