I put a post on the Safety Board about losing it on a hill in my Jinma 204. Basically I was going down the hill faster than the wheels were turning.

The question was raised re engaging the diff lock - can I do this while moving on a Jinma, and would the fact I had the PTO engaged on a slasher have made the situation worse?

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

I quite often find a need to engage the diff lock while in motion. But I don't think that's the right solution to your downhill issue.

Jinmas currently sold (as new) in America have a two stage clutch. In situations like you describe, we need only kick in the clutch with one foot - while engaging both brakes with the other. The instant the clutch hits bottom, the PTO is fully disengaged. At that point, one finds a lower gear in which to descend said hills.

I'd be surprised if ANZUK Jinmas don't have the same two stage clutch.

Jinma/2 stage clutch... I too believe that you will find most if not all Jinma's have a 2 stage clutch. On the 284 I just purchased I wanted it to be a 100% backhoe/loader tractor ( with SHUTTLE../to date the shuttle has been totally trouble free & I would never again order a tractor with out it...what a time & effort saver...) & would never do any 3 point work with that tractor. Thought if I ordered a single stage clutch I'd get longer life out of the clutch for the loader work/the single disk might be heavier/thicker? The dealer I deal with tried to order single stage clutch & couldn't get it...
