Stairs... a good reason to put the master bedroom on the floor that you spend the most time on. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Another thing to consider is stacking closets above each other on the floors and running the floor joists so that when the time comes that you can no longer do stairs, you can gut the closets, pop the floor out and put in an elevator. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

My cousins move houses for a living. In the mid 80's my father hired them to move a house in town. The move was from the base of a hill up to almost the top of the hill. They use two heavy wreckers (one is a backup as only one wrecker does the pulling, the other just takes up the slack incase something bad happens to the other wrecker). Anyway, the house was moved up the hill and placed. It is still standing with no problems at all.

They also moved a house in the next town over (historical house) and all they did was brace the chimney. Didn't have to remove it or anything. I have read recently where some companies are actually moving the basements with the house. They have a way to life the concrete floor and all. I would be worried about this style of move though as I fear the floor and walls will crack in the future once the house is set.
